On 30 May 2021, despite a brutal second wave of coronavirus, the Delhi High Court refused to direct the Centre to stop the ongoing construction of the Central Vista Project in Delhi. As I scrolled through the news that day, I felt a strange sinking sensation in the pit of my stomach. One of the buildings on the list of scheduled demolitions is the Annexe to the National Archives of India. ....

KSLF London 2021 - Newspaper

The writer is an author.
KHUSHWANT Singh alive was vital; in death, he has become virtual. Like many of us, he, too, has fallen victim to the impact of Covid-19. Those who celebrate his life at Litfests held in his name have to find other ingenious ways of commemorating him.
On June 26 and 27, the Khushwant Singh Literary Festival London 2021, held usually at Kasauli, went virtual from London. Its theme No Man is an Island would have amused Khushwant. He would have spotted the irony of his KSLF being beamed from a post-Brexit London, and remembered the succeeding lines from John Donne’s prescient poem: “Every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less.” ....

Inflated oz museum purchase prices fuel demand for our idols- The New Indian Express

We have seen how the market for Indian antiquities is not just demand-driven but is actually a derived demand in previous articles in this series on illicit trade in sculptures. The demand for robbing and looting sacred sites is dependent on the demand for unprovenanced antiquities by the ultimate consumers, the museums. Here, we delve further into the Australian system, which, with its unregulated purchases, has been a major contributor to this demand.
