The El Geneina Victims Committee has called on the UN Security Council to send forces to protect the people in West Darfur, citing the inability of the Sudanese regular forces to protect civilians, and accusing some members of the regular forces of being involved in attacks.
The committee representing the victims of violent attacks on various neighbourhoods in El Geneina and the adjacent camps for the displaced, expressed their concerns in a press conference in the West Darfur capital on Sunday. They demanded the immediate withdrawal of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the joint Third Front Forces from West Darfur, accusing them of joining the attacks by Arab tribesmen on El Geneina in mid-January and again in early April attacking civilians during the El Geneina events. ....

The El Geneina Victims Committee has called on the UN Security Council to send forces to protect the people in West Darfur, citing the inability of the Sudanese regular forces to protect civilians, and accusing some members of the regular forces of being involved in the attacks.
The committee representing the victims of violent attacks on various neighbourhoods in El Geneina and the adjacent camps for the displaced in early April, expressed their concerns in a press conference in the West Darfur capital on Sunday.

The Displaced People and Refugees Gathering of the Masalit in West Darfur rejects the decisions of the mediation between their leaders and those of the Arab tribes in the region. They hold the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces responsible for the attacks.
Fierce fighting between Masalit tribesmen and members of various Arab tribes erupted in the West Darfur capital El Geneina on April 3. According to the African Centre for Justice and Peace Studies, the conflict started when two Masalit tribesmen were killed on a road separating an Arab neighbourhood from a Masalit one. The failure of authorities to investigate the murders led to retaliatory violence. Armed groups from both tribes took to the streets and heavy fighting erupted, that could reportedly continue without any intervention from the security forces. At least 144 people were killed. ....
