Bottom, left, ring two champions Poppy Hughes and Amy Hose with judge THE sun reared its lovely head for the Isle of Wight Pony Club s (IWPC) annual open show at the weekend. Held at George’s Field, the event welcomed many guests for a day of pony riding and fun. The occasion presented an opportunity for the IWPC to showcase its sand school, lovingly repaired and resurfaced through grants from the IW Sports Foundation and Magic Little Grants from the Postcode Community Trust. ....

The Island s horse-owners and dog-owners have been having plenty of seasonal fun with their pets and their colourful costumes have put a smile on lots of people s faces. From riders and horses in Christmas outfits to dogs modelling Santa hats and reindeer antlers, they have all looked the part and left us feeling Christmassy. We love Kim Maisey s Border Collie, Blue (in main picture, above), who is a master at sniffing out her hidden Christmas presents and opening them before Christmas - especially if it s a ball! Kim also owns Jack, a 19-year-old ex-riding school horse, who will kisses for treats! ....
