Photo via Facebook profile. - WHILE attempting to save the lives of others, a fire officer drowned at a Mayaro beach on Sunday afternoon. Police reported that around 5.30 pm, 39-year-old Steven Marcano was at a beach at Vicks Avenue, in Mayaro when some bathers began struggling in the water. He went into the water to assist them but was swept away. His body was later washed ashore. He was taken to the Mayaro District Health Facility where efforts were made to resuscitate him but to no avail.
