The Fairfield Public Library has announced its Thursday Morning Activities for June into July. The activities will begin each Thursday at 10 AM. On June 8th, they will be going over Germs and You!. June 15th fill features an Animal Tales Show. On June 22nd, there will be the McKitrick Family Rodeo. On June 29th, the activity is Bee a Friend to the Earth and on July 6th, there will be music with Mr. Livesay. Along with activities and games, there will be treats. The games and crafts are provided in partnership with Wayne County Enrichment, the Wayne County Historical Society, the Wabash Area Development office in Fairfield, the Wayne County U of I Extension, the Wayne County Health Department, Artist Vicki Gifford, Friends of the Fairfield Public Library and the Fairfield Public Library Foundation.
Wayne County Treasurer Donna Masterson is reminding Wayne County Tax Payers that the first installment of Real Estate Taxes is due this Friday, October 7th. Taxes may be paid in person at the Treasurer's Office between 8a.m. and 4:30p.m. After office hours taxes may be paid utilizing the drop box located on the west side of the Courthouse. Real Estate Tax Payments may also be made at the following bank locations: First Financial, Cisne Trust, Mt. Starting at 7am today, part of the Fairfield Memorial Hospital's main parking lot, to include the entrance into the main lobby of the hospital will be closed until approximately Noon. Drop offs and picks up will be at the Surgical Pavilion. This closure is due to a crane that will be moving in the new AC equipment as part of the Phase II renovations. There will be periods of time starting at 10am when they will be moving heavy duty equipment overhead and no staff or visitors will be permitted in certain areas of the main part of the hospital due to safety concerns. During these times FMH Security Staff will help guide visitors and staff. The Fairfield City Council met last night with all members present. The council approved 3 TIF Redevelopment Agreements. The Wayne Chamber of Commerce along with Gibbs Excavating and Land Management LLC in Fairfield are excited to announce a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate their Grand Opening. The ceremony will take place on Friday, August 19 at 11:00 am. Gibbs Excavation and Land Management is owned and operated by Austin Gibbs in Fairfield. Ribbon Cutting will be held at Save a Lot in the newly laid parking to the East. Meet the Mules is scheduled to kick off at 6pm today with the Girls & Boys Introductions, followed by the Girls Tennis introductions at 6:05. At 6:10 will the the introductions for the Girls & Boys Cross Country teams, with the Volleyball introductions to take place at 6:15. There will be a Volleyball scrimmage from 6:20 to 7, before festivities move out to the football field. Cheerleader introductions will begin at 7:05, Freshmen Football introductions are at 7:10, and Varsity Football introductions will be at 7:15. The night will end with a Football scrimmage from 7:25 un
