'Ghost sign' from the 1920s pops up on Vancouver's East Hastings

Driving down East Hastings on Saturday morning, Patrick Gunn of Heritage Vancouver came across a startling sight: a 1920s-era “ghost sign” that had been revealed during the demolition of a next-door building.
“I almost drove off the side of the road,” he said with a laugh.

The sign is huge, about 20 feet wide and 13 feet tall. Painted directly onto the side of a 1915 building at 2615 East Hastings, it urges the masses to “Specify 4X Bakery Products (by) Canadian Bakeries Ltd.” ....
