Via Jersey City celebrated its one year anniversary by announcing service expansion to six days a week.
Via car service will now be available on weekends in Jersey City according to Mayor Steven Fulop, who announced the expansion of New Jersey’s first publicly subsidized on-demand transit system.
Since the February 2020 launch, Via has provided more than 216,000 rides, most of which originated from the West and South areas of Jersey City, with top destinations being key transportation hubs and shopping and business districts. ....

The announcement coincides with the one-year anniversary of the launch of the system, which the mayor said has exceeded the goals of connecting transit deserts and providing a low-cost alternative option for residents.
Since February 2020 Via has provided more than 216,000 rides, most of which originated from the western and southern areas of the city, with top destinations being key transportation hubs and shopping/business districts, statistics show. Despite the pandemic, the service has proven more resilient than traditional public transit in Jersey City, especially for the underserved communities who need it most, Fulop said. ....
