Threat of severe weather for 2nd day as storms bubble up around DC area

Heavy rain and a risk for scattered thundershowers continues in the D.C. area but the threat of severe storms Thursday evening has largely faded.

NEW: Flood Watch issued for Sunday night, serious weather threat on Monday

Get ready for some wild weather over the next day and a half. First up are some storms tonight (Sunday) that are likely to be packing torrential rainfall. The heavy rain could cause flash flooding, prompting a Flood Watch to be issued this afternoon, taking effect at 8 p.m. More from the National Weather Service:

NEW: Dense Fog Advisory issued for Arlington

Arlington is now included in a Dense Fog Advisory that was earlier issued for other parts of Virginia and Maryland. The fog is expected to clear up overnight, but for now visibility outside is low and potentially treacherous for drivers.
