Over 700 tonnes of mango, banana processed at Nuzvid VHT plant

Andhra Pradesh State Agro Industries Development Corporation Ltd s Vapour Heat Treatment (VHT) Plant for fruits at Nuzvid has processed over 757 tonnes of fruits in the past year.
According to the Corporation s district manager B. Renuka, the facility at Nuzvid has processed and packaged fruits with export quality for international and local markets.
She said a variety of mangoes weighing 22 tonnes were exported to the U.K. and Germany this season after they were processed at the VHT plant in Nuzvid.
Similarly, 120 tonnes of mangoes were sold to Reliance Mart and 115 tonnes of mangoes were sold to More Supermarket, which is a chain of supermarkets. Also, 500 tonnes of banana, which are available throughout the year, were sold to local markets, she said.
Pakistan to set up Mango Development Council
The Pakistan government has agreed to explore the establishment of a Mango Development Council. This industry body will have representation from all stakeholders, including growers, traders, research institutes, etc.
The Ministry of Commerce hosted a consultative video-link session on the issues pertaining to exports of mango. The session was attended by Advisor to Prime Minister for Commerce and Investment. Both public and private sectors were represented.
The meeting discussed in detail all bottlenecks being faced by growers and exporters of mangoes. The main issues identified were meeting the compliance requirements, high freight charges, lack of cold storage facilities at the airports and insufficient water/vapour treatment facilities.
Govt to Establish Cold Storages on Airports and Shipping Ports
The Government and the Representatives of Fruit and Vegetable Exporters have agreed to establish cold storages on airports and shipping ports across the country.
The Ministry of Commerce hosted a consultative session on the issues pertaining to exports of mango via video-link. The session was attended by Advisor to Prime Minister for Commerce and Investment, Abdul Razak Dawood. The participants included Chairman of Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters, Importers and Merchants Association (PFVA), Waheed Ahmad, farmers, and exporters of mangoes.

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Commerce in consultation with stakeholders has agreed to take several measures for promotion of mango exports.
After extensive discussions at a virtual meeting held on Saturday and chaired by Commerce Adviser Razak Dawood, it was agreed that the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) will examine all the legal issues for operationalising the already-imported Vapour Heat Treatment Plant, presently lying at the Expo Centre Karachi.
Pakistan Fruit & Vegetable Exporters, Importers & Merchants Association (PFVA) chairman Waheed Ahmad, farmers and exporters of mangoes also participated in the meeting.
