The Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce was awarded $100,000 by IKEA U.S. Community Foundation to donate to local Black-owned businesses and organizations working to support social justice, economic empowerment, and education initiatives in Black communities.
Through Dec. 5, IKEA Family Rewards members can sell back certain items and receive store credit at the Costa Mesa location. It's one of many ways the Swedish retailer is trying to promote sustainability.
Through a partnership between the Swedish retailer and local nonprofit Power of One Foundation, nearly 18,000 families in need received food. The popular events ended May 15.

A new permanent bridge shelter on Costa Mesa’s Airway Avenue was taking shape Tuesday one Allen wrench turn at a time as IKEA designers and volunteers worked side by side assembling donated furniture in advance of a mid-April opening.
