vanessa gilmore for the southern district of texas. judge gilmour, thank you so much for joining us. let me get you the bases time speaking in hearing from you this evening. let me get your take about the briefing that we heard, perhaps unanswered questions, perhaps your big takeaway on another tragic day in the state of texas. right, i m joining you right now actually from dallas, texas. on about 20 miles away from where the shooting occurred. one of the things that we know is that there are already a number of federal laws that address issues involving people who should not be owners of gantz. we can t sell guns to people that we know under federal law are mentally ill, undocumented persons aren t allowed to have guns. people that have previously been convicted of felonies on ability to own guns. i think that this is an issue that we have to take a twofold approach to. one side of the aisle wants to address mental illness, the other side wants to address gun
health funding for schools act. so, if you re going to talk about mental health, put your money where your mouth isn t actually fundamental health services all across the country. yes, the hypocrisy from her and other republicans. honestly, it doesn t surprise me. just as gilmore, can i ask about this initiative and the efforts to try and go after the gun manufacturers? is there a legal argument to be made that this is worth pursuing more aggressively in that guns, if they are ultimately used in the killing of people in this way, that there is more responsibility for them to be had? well, we know that there have been some cases where that tactic has been utilized. it has been met with various success. there are cases in which there have been gun manufacturers that have not been responsibly legally for the outcome of shootings. others were that has been
