laney college. the college board has decided they do not want this project to move forward here at this site. essentially, they re not willing to give up the land to the oakland a s. the board decided in a closed session meeting yesterday to cut off talks with the oakland a s about their proposed stadium plans. in september the a s announced their preferred site for a new stadium was here at this location, the community colleges headquarters right across from laney college next to 880 here in oakland. there was a lot of concern from the get-go among the college community about this new stadium, potentially disrupting campus and possibly displacing low income residents in this area. we talked moments ago with the chancellor who was asked if he took offense to the way the a s announced their intention to build a ballpark at this site? it didn t we didn t take offense to anything. we really concentrated on what peralta s interests are. what our needs are for the future ....
