Menomonee Falls Superintendent estimates 80-90% vaccination rate by the fall MILWAUKEE- Most school districts across Wisconsin have welcomed back students, or are in the process of welcoming back students, to in-person learning, despite young students not being eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine yet. Menomonee Falls Superintendent Corey Golla tells WTMJ’s John Mercure the year’s been quite the learning experience for students, parents, faculty, and staff. “We started our year hybrid and it was critical we referred to our parents and our teachers to have that partnership and to have them understand what we are trying to accomplish with our students,” Golla said. “We think we’ve raised the bar on what’s possible in education in terms of being able to change quickly and adapt to new learning and have strong outcomes for students in a very difficult time.” ....
MILWAUKEE- Companies across the country are offering incentives to employees if they’re willing to get vaccinated, but those incentives could turn into mandates if they so choose. As the debate over whether or not to get vaccinated rages across the country, employers are working towards reopening office spaces, which could lead to employers telling employees to get the shot, or else. “I think it would be a last resort,” Metro Milwaukee Area Chamber of Commerce President Tim Sheehy tells WTMJ. “Clearly you want to encourage the vaccination, you’ll have a much safer office space if people do get vaccinated, but I think it’ll be a last resort for companies to require a vaccine.” ....

As COVID-19 vaccine distribution continues, anticipation is growing that businesses will be able to return to some level of normalcy as they operate during the pandemic. Tim Sheehy, President of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, discussed this during the WTMJ Roundtable: Vacs Facts Thursday. He says businesses will need to address two factors in order to succeed once the pandemic eases. “The first is the confidence that their employees have that the work environment they’re going back is going to be safe,” says Sheehy. “The second issues for companies, especially those that have direct consumer, is the confidence of the consumer. I’m not talking about their confidence in the economy, but their confidence to go out and do things that the companies can reach them as customers on. Whether that is going to a Brewers game, going to a restaurant, traveling, doing those kinds of things.” ....
