AS THE biggest immunisation programme in UK history accelerates, many will be wondering when they will be invited to have their second jab. More than 22 million people have already had a second dose of the game-changing vaccine, while people aged over 50, and those who are vulnerable, should get their second dose a month earlier than planned. Government guidance initially said that a 12-week gap should be left between first and second doses of the Astra Zeneca, Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. However, fears over the Indian Covid variant surging in Bolton, Blackburn and Bedford has meant the vaccination programme has picked up its pace in a bid to beat the deadly bug.
