As many as 127.1 million doses have so far been administered at the time of writing
Opening up COVID-19 vaccines to all above the age of 18 from May 1 will mark the third phase of India’s inoculation campaign. As of 7 a.m. on Tuesday (April 20), 127.1 million doses had been administered. The average daily vaccination rate stands at 2.65 million doses.
In comparison, the number of people in India who are aged 60 or more is 137 million (274 million doses), the government’s initial target. After it opened up vaccination for those above 45 on April 1, an additional 207 million people (414 million doses) got added to the intended target. On May 1, an additional 595 million people (1,190 million doses) will get added to this queue.

Vaccine manufacturers thanked PM Modi for the government s decision of allowing vaccination for everyone above the age of 18.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged vaccine manufacturers to continuously scale up their production capacity to inoculate all Indians in the shortest possible time.
Interacting with vaccine manufacturers from across the country via video conferencing, Modi said the private sector will play an even more active role in the vaccination drive in the coming days and that this will require better coordination between hospitals and the industry.
He also assured all possible support and smooth approval process for the vaccine candidates which are currently under trial phase. The health infrastructure of our private sector has played a big role in the country s fight against COVID-19, he said.

Over 80 lakh people have been so far given the COVID-19 vaccine in India. The second dose of COVID-19 vaccination started from the day for those beneficiaries who have completed 28 days after receipt of the first dose.

A total of 80,52,454 beneficiaries have so far been vaccinated for COVID-19 through 1,69,215 sessions held till the evening of February 13, the 29th day of the immunisation drive, according to a provisional report of the Union Health Ministry.
On February 13, 84,807 beneficiaries were vaccinated till 6 pm through 4,434 sessions, the ministry said. Of these, 50,837 were healthcare workers, while the other 2,10,472 beneficiaries were frontline workers.

Over 77.66 lakh people have been so far given their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine dose in India.

A total of 77,66,319 beneficiaries have so far been vaccinated for COVID-19 through 1,63,587 sessions held till the evening of February 12, the 28th day of the immunisation drive, according to a provisional report of the Union Health Ministry.
On February 12, 2,61,309 beneficiaries were vaccinated till 6 pm, the ministry said. Of these, 50,837 were healthcare workers, while the other 2,10,472 beneficiaries were frontline workers.
According to the health ministry, India is the fastest country to reach 60 lakh vaccinations, achieving it in just 24 days.
