This evening, New Canaan First Selectman Kevin Moynihan provided a COVID update reporting that last week, the number of positive COVID cases for New Canaan residents was 21, about the same as the prior week. We’ve had 12 new cases reported this week so far. Most cases continue to be due to family transmission and in adolescents aged 10-22 years old. Our Health Director continues to remind families to try to isolate a positive family member to the extent possible from the rest of the household, he said.
New Canaan s COVID-19 community testing at Lapham Center continued last week with three days of testing. With all results back from last week’s Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday testing, Moynihan said there was 1 positive case out of 189 residents tested for a positivity rate of 0.53%.

This evening, Tuesday, January 26, New Canaan First Selectman Kevin Moynihan provided a community COVID update reporting that last week we saw a significant decline in positive COVID test results with 48 cases, down from the previous week’s 76.
In addition, Moynihan said we’ve had 9 new cases reported thus far this week and most cases are family transmission and our Health Director reminds families to try to isolate a positive family member to the extent possible from the rest of the household. She also urges residents to eliminate all unnecessary social gatherings to continue to control the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

New Canaan Community Update
This evening, New Canaan First Selectman Kevin Moynihan provided a community COVID update reporting that last week, we saw a slight decline in positive COVID test results with 76 cases, down from the previous week high of 89. Moynihan said that we’ve had 17 new cases reported thus far this week. Our Health Director urges residents to eliminate all unnecessary social gatherings to continue to bring our case numbers back down and control the spread of COVID-19 in our community, said Moynihan, who added that most cases continue to be college-age young adults, teenagers, and middle-age parents.
