Residents considering holiday celebrations are reminded: COVID-19 is still a threat to our community. Do not host or attend large gatherings and stay home the holidays. If you must leave your household wear a mask, maintain six feet of distance from others, and wash your hands frequently.
Today December 23 Stamford has 8,639 confirmed cases. Last week December 17 Stamford had 8,200 confirmed cases. These numbers suggest Stamford has had 439 new cases in the past week, roughly 63 new cases per day on average. The City of Stamford has compiled a visualization of data up to December 22. ....

Gov. Lamont Announces Approval of Moderna's COVID-19 Vaccine in Conn.

Governor Ned Lamont announced the approval of Moderna s COVID-19 vaccine in Connecticut and the first doses of the vaccine were given on Monday morning shortly after it arrived in the state.
Lamont said he has directed the state Dept. of Public Health to add Moderna s COVID-19 vaccine to the state s ongoing vaccination program after a recommendation from the Governor s COVID-19 Vaccine Advisory Group s Science Subcommittee.
With two vaccines expected to be available soon, NBC Connecticut spoke with two experts about the development of and differences between the two vaccines.
According to Lamont, the co-chairs of the subcommittee said in a report that it has full confidence in the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention s approval process and that it has no concerns about it moving forward. ....
