The Orbán government began issuing coronavirus vaccination certificates in early March to those who had already received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine or had contracted the disease and could prove it in some way. As the vaccination rate hit another milestone in Hungary yesterday, surpassing 3 million people, the amount of those with vaccination cards is also rapidly growing. There is only one problem: they are pretty much useless at the moment and we can only guess what benefits they will provide exactly in the future.
A strange story surfaced on social media according to travel site Okosutas.hu. A Hungarian passenger encountered a problem when he wanted to return to Hungary from his trip abroad. He was traveling to an Eastern European country (most likely to Poland) with two doses of the Pfizer vaccine already administered and his newly acquired immunity certificate. Getting to the foreign country wasn’t the problem- he was able to enter without any hassle, however,
Sinopharm and Sputnik V: Heavy Debate Might Conclude with EU Authorization
The Chinese Sinopharm and Russian Sputnik V vaccines are increasingly receiving both positive and negative attention from the European Union. While the European Commission is supposedly planning to recognize vaccines with emergency authorization in the EU’s vaccine passport, an official from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has warned against doing so, citing a lack of documentation. The two
vaccines could play a stronger role in Europe, as they have helped Hungary reach a vaccination rate high above the EU average.
The European Commission is already working on a European digital vaccine passport which, unlike Hungarian vaccination certificates, contains the type of vaccine used for inoculation.

State Secy Kovács Defends Purchase of Chinese and Russian Vaccines in CNN Interview
The coronavirus vaccine is not a political issue, but one of effectiveness and reliability, Zoltán Kovács, the state secretary in charge of international communications and relations, said in an interview to CNN on Monday.
Asked why Hungary was using Covid vaccines that have not been approved by the European Union, Kovács said both the Chinese and Russian vaccines were in use in many parts of the world, adding that Hungary trusted its scientists and doctors who have approved those jabs.
Kovács said that, when compared with the vaccination strategies of Israel and the United States, the EU’s strategy had failed.
Parliament's justice committee did not accept for debate a proposal by opposition party Párbeszéd that Hungary could only exit the EU (Huxit) on the basis of a valid referendum in favour of such a move.
