The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will come to order. We thank all those in attendance. In rolling out its new south asia strategy last august, the administration underscored the United States hardfought security gains in afghanistan and reiterated our commitment to helping establish a foundation for political resolution. Ofh the recent reports shrinking government control of territory, continued high attrition of Afghan Forces and deadly attacks in kabul, it is foundation is a long way off. But we are encouraged i the new strategy. By the new it is approaching the level our force to matter force commander requested. Our nato a nonnato allies have also reinforced their troop commitments and support to Afghan Forces through 2020. China is a partner with us. We exchange students, exchange faculty come all for the betterment of scholarship and for research. Not directly involved in those sordid discussions but it bears, we may be able to play along the way we might think about how we can be helpful to someone. I will add one more point because its important. Theyre making a lot of judicial changes. They established a special is ip core to your ip cases. This is a national court, not local. Its a national court, very much looking through it as an experience or judicial reform, greater amount of transparency into the recordation of their opinions, allowance of our discovery and maybe even greater damages or towards along the lines for ip rights. Those are positive changes were looking forward to. I think theyre working very hard on. I think it is a positive step. Numbers it is still something that is at a young age and something i would like to point out if it is great for the fight to have their resources create faculty and faithbased undocumented youth but its also important to note a lot of Higher Education comes from high school and it starts from there. That is very important to point out. Send the mouse ever mentioning about faithbased. I actually had the opportunity to talk to my counselor when she actually encouraged me. Unfortunately that is not the case for undocumented ear through their First Encounter as a guidance counselor, teacher considered being encouraged are actually being discouraged to even think about possibilities because that is due to the lack of knowledge. Something else we wanted to point out that we fundamentally believe the greater impact for undocumented people when undocumented people are part of the process. After all who better to understand the need for undocumented people than the undocumented people themselve

Can we connect a couple of big picture items with a challenge to drive that . To the extent that these are connected a very big issue that has arisen to focus some of the shortterm. Corporations somehow have capital that should be enhancing the technology to show better quarterly results. There are two different issues. Ive tried not to get too obsessed but lets get though longer term trend so i certainly tried to take a prospective to understand what is going on in in the economy. Which is at the heart of the question is an important thing to be had and i was talking before with basic research that we would under invested in but the business will still not investing enough. But that is by finding funding is so important. If you put that into research and development that is terrific also. Led to think the longer run

Guest it comes from a quotation from Wilbur Wright of the Wright Brothers who was explaining how the Wright Brothers were first to fly. And he dropped a piece of paper to his floor and said to his audience notice how the paper darts back and forth, this is the kind of horse we have to learn to ride if we are going to fly. Host and how does it tie into the theme and themes of your book . Guest well, yeah. The interesting thing is why did the Wright Brothers fly first, and what was the process they used, because they werent the first people to have the idea of building a flying machine, and they werent the first people to try. So why did they succeed where everybody else failed . And the answer is they understood the problem they were trying to solve much better than anybody else. And at the
