Uttarakhand s Haridwar reported 594 new cases of coronavirus today, taking the active caseload of the city to 2,812, as thousands gathered to take dips in the Ganges for the 13th day of Mahakumbh. On Monday, Haridwar had registered 408 cases.
Uttarakhand logged 1,925 cases with 13 deaths in the last 24 hours. ....

DEHRADUN: Amid rising concerns of the Covid 19 outbreak in Mahakumbh and rumours of shortage of police force, the Inspector General of the mela area has written to Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh (RSS) and Congress Sewa Dal requesting assistance in crowd management.
The letter was written to state chiefs of the two groups citing crowd menace and traffic management among other issues and requesting deployment of volunteers.
The Mahakumbh is one of the most important religious events of the country. We want to ensure that every available help and resources are ready. The help was sought based on the commendable job both the groups have done in the past when it comes to public welfare, Sanjay Gunjyal, IG, Kumbh told ....

Uttarakhand govt to withdraw all cases related to COVID-19 violation guidelines
The newly sworn-in Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Tirath Singh Rawat decided to withdraw all cases registered in connection with COVID-19 violations. Rawat made the decision during his first cabinet meeting on Friday.
The 56-year-old BJP s Lok Sabha MP from Garhwal, on Wednesday, took oath as the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, replacing Trivendra Singh Rawat who had stepped down from the post on Tuesday.
Trivendra Singh s resigned after BJP general secretary in-charge of Uttarakhand Dushyant Kumar Gautam and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, submitted a report to the BJP s central leadership, detailing the rebellion in the state unit of the party, as per sources.\ ....

Uttarakhand govt issues guidelines for Kumbh Mela
Uttarakhand government on Monday issued Covid-19 guidelines for devotees visitingÂ Haridwar s Kumbh Mela. According to the statement, devotees to be allowed at Kumbh Mela only after producing COVID negative RT-PCR report, issued not later than 72 hrs.
Besides, they ll also have to download theÂ Aarogya Setu app.Â
Meanwhile, the authorities said that people over 65 yrs of age, the ailing, pregnant women, children below 10 years of age advised not to come.
Earlier on Sunday, the state government had made it mandatory for the attendees to obtain a medical certificate to be able to participate in the event.Â ....
