Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state has been awarded the “COVID-19 Response Champion” by the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria(AMLSN).
The award was presented at the 15th National Annual Public Health Lecture Series of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria which held in Abuja, Thursday.
The event which held at Chida hotel, Utako District, Abuja had Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu the Director General of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control as Guest Speaker while Senator Dr. Ibrahim Oloriebe, the Chairman Senate Committee on Health (Sec. and Tertiary) was Chairman of the Occasion.
Many top government functionaries and Scientists in the country were also in attendance.
One of them is Victor E. Onasile, a young entrepreneur who ventured into botanical gardening in Abuja nine years ago. He described the business as hard but profitable.
Onasile, who explained that his love for nature, especially plants and a desire to achieve something in life were his main motivations, said experience was important in this venture.
“So far, I am happy, not because I am making much money but because I am able to help other people as well. Right now, I have 16 people under my monthly payroll. Every month, I spend N400,000 on their salaries. Apart from having other branches, being an employer of labour is one of my greatest achievements,” he said.
FCTA commends mosques for compliance with COVID-19

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Friday commended the level of compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols in mosques around the Federal Capital City during Jumma’at congregation prayers.
Mr Ikharo Attah, Head, Publicity and Enlightenment, FCT Ministerial Enforcement Task Force on COVID-19, made the remark after monitoring the compliance level in some mosques at Wuse, Utako and Maitama Districts, in Abuja.
Attah urged Imams to ensure that their congregants adhered strictly to physical distancing during prayers.
“The usage of face masks, sanitisers and hand washing points in the mosques visited are quite encouraging.
