As the Utah Republican Party prepares to nominate a more permanent replacement, Gov. Spencer Cox announced Tuesday that Chief Deputy Treasurer Kirt Slaugh will serve as interim state treasurer.
Slaugh will take the place of the office’s former leader, David Damschen, who announced earlier this month that he planned to resign from the seat he was first elected to in 2016. He is taking on a new position as the president and CEO of the Utah Housing Corp.
