A magnitude 4.4 earthquake near Santa Cruz de El Seibo, El Seibo, Provincia de El Seibo, Dominican Republic, was reported only 24 minutes ago by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity in the Dominican Republic. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter around noon on Wednesday 3 February 2021 at 12:03 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
