Kano govt rewards winners of Qur'anic recitation competition with N2.5m each

KANO State government has gifted Muhammad Auwal Gusau, from Zamfara State, who emerged the best in the male category and his counterpart, Nusaiba Shu’aibu Ahmed, from Kano State, who came first in the female category, a sum of N2.5 million each at the 35th national Qur’anic recitation competition held in Kano.
Speaking at the ground finale of the competition, which was held at the convocation arena of the Bayero University, Kano, the state governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, represented by his deputy, Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, said a total 180 males and 190 females from all the 36 states of the federation and FCT participated in the nine-day Qur’anic recitation competition with the two overall winners receiving a cash prize of N2.5 million each from the Kano State government. ....

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared that the All Progressives Grand Alliance as the winner of the just concluded re -run election for the Magama Rijau federal constituency of Niger State.
The INEC Returning Officer of the Usman Danfodio University Sokoto, Professor Yahaya Tanko Baba, announced the results in Rijau Local Government Council described the exercise as a huge success.
Baba explained that candidate of APGA, Shehu Slow polled 22,965 votes to emerge winner of the re-run election for the Magama Rijau federal constituency in Niger State.
He defeated his closest rival of the People Democratic Party, Mr Emmanuel Alamu, who scored 22,507 votes in a keenly contested election. ....

APGA's Sale wins Reps bye-election in Niger – Punch Newspapers

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Shehu Sale, candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, winner of Magama/Rijau Federal Constituency of Niger in Saturday’s bye-election.
The INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Tanko Baba of the Usman Danfodio University Sokoto, said Sale scored 22,965 votes to defeat Alamu Emmanuel of the Peoples Democratic Party who came second with 22,507 votes.
Baba said Yusuf Nasir, the candidate of the ADC, polled 336 votes.
He explained that the total number of registered voters was 159,347, while the number of accredited voters was 46,734, with 45,808 valid votes, total votes cast 46,499 and rejected votes 691.
Meanwhile, Prof. Samuel Egwu, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Niger on Sunday, commended the electorate in the constituency for their peaceful conduct during and after the election. ....
