The Taliban and its allies have allegedly killed more than 100 former Afghan government members, security personnel and people who worked with the international military contingent in Afghanistan, claims a new UN report.
Ahead of the August 31 deadline, the US military has begun its final withdrawal from Afghanistan as the Taliban prepares to take control of the Kabul airport.
The Taliban said on Saturday they were preparing a new cabinet as the US evacuation nears its end and they expected that sharp currency falls and economic turmoil following their takeover of Kabul two weeks ago would subside.
More than 100,000 people have been safely evacuated through the Kabul airport, according to the U.S., but thousands more are struggling to leave.The White House said Friday afternoon that U.S. military aircraft had flown out 2,100 evacuees in the previous 24 hours. Another 2,100 people left on other coalition flights.
