Last week we welcomed the Chief of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command’s Office of Defense Cooperation U.S. Air Force Col. Christopher Ingleton to see the production of 155mm M795 high-explosive artillery rounds by Australian Munitions at the Australian government-owned Benalla Munitions Manufacturing facility in regional Victoria.
The trial work to establish a local production capability for the 155mm M795 high-explosive artillery projectile will grow core sovereign industrial competencies in high-explosive manufacture and artillery projectile that will act to strengthen strategic supply security for the Australian and U.S. Armies.
The collaboration between Australia and the United States for the Australian production off 155mm artillery is a significant milestone under the Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA), recently signed between the U.S. Army’s Development Command Armaments Center and Thales Australia.
