NORFOLK, Va. Gun violence is on the rise across the nation and in Hampton Roads.
On Monday, police chiefs from the Seven Cities came together expressing that the community needs to step up to help change this trend.
“Well, I can tell you one of my most violent sectors in the city has 64 churches. 64 churches. What we re not doing: one, there s a lot of folks out here that want to help but don t know how to help. NASSAU, BAHAMAS Members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) Entry 41 and Woman Entry 13 recently donated grocery items to the Urban Renewal Center, St. James Road.
In commemoration of celebrating 16 years of service to the country, the combined male and female squad decided it was only fitting that they do a charitable project in an inner-city community.
On Tuesday, May 4, 2021, the officers and marines donated cases of breakfast items including tuna, mackerel, corned beef, yellow grits, water, disposable lid containers and boxes of male clothing. TRAGEDY AFTERMATH: Social services assisting more than 40 people impacted by recent fires

NASSAU, BAHAMAS The back-to-back fires on Jennie Street and Fritz Lane last week impacted 42 people, according to Social Services Minister Frankie Campbell.
Campbell, who was speaking to reporters on the matter outside Cabinet yesterday, provided an update on the assistance provided to those families, including short-term shelter, food and clothing.

He said in fire incidents, the Social Services Department also assists with bedding and appliances.
A woman in her 90s also had to be taken to hospital for treatment due to smoke inhalation, and ten of the structures impacted by the blaze were destroyed. ....
