Dodd, 77, died March 10. He had been in poor health for several years, and had not attended any County Board meetings since spring 2017. Dodd was first elected to the County Board in 2012. Prior to that he had served as an Alton alderman for the 6th Ward from April 1981 to March 1997. He was also the owner and operator of Jim’s Mobil. Madison County Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler had 60 days to appoint a new board member. The new appointment was required to be a Democrat. ....
Alton Spring Clean-up runs through April April 7, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail McGibany ALTON More than 45 organizations, businesses and clubs plan to pick up litter in their adopted areas during Alton’s Spring City-Wide Litter Clean-Up this month. The community is invited to pitch in on the effort to clean up Alton streets. Volunteers can simply pick up litter in their neighborhood and deposit it in their own trash and recycle bins. Bags and gloves provided by Madison County and safety vests provided by Granny’s Uniforms Work Fashions & More will be available all month at Jacoby Arts Center, 627 E. Broadway 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, as well as Maeva’s Coffee at 1320 Milton Road 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. ....
