Trump of course started by courting the fringe Alt Right Movement, retweeting their memes, enlisting the help of steve bannon then Executive Chairman of the far right Site Britebart to run his campaign. This was concerning for conservative commentator david french. He wrote an op ed in 2015 calling out the movement saying quote, many of them are White Nationalists, hate interracial adoption, and other race mixing practices.
