COTABATO CITY - The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao's (BARMM) economy has posted a 7.5 percent growth in 2021, a regional official said Friday. Citing a report from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), BARMM Interior Minister Naguib Sinarimbo said the figure elevated BARMM as "the second-fastest-growing region" in the country. "The numbers are showing what the Government of the Day has been doing with human health and social work activities registering the highest growth at 22 percent," Sinarimbo said. Mining and quarrying also registered substantial growth at 20.2 percent; accommodation and food service activities, 17.9 percent; construction, 12.2 percent; and financial and insurance activities, 10.6 percent. "All other industries also registered positive growths reflecting the infra-spending of the regional government," he said.
