PRO-3 chief orders relief of 10 Pampanga cops

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga - The director of the Police Regional Office in Central Luzon (PRO-3) on Thursday ordered the immediate relief and removal from post of 10 members of the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) after allegedly being involved in a robbery. PRO-3 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Matthew P. Baccay said in a statement the order stemmed from an incident where the concerned lawmen launched an operation against illegal cockfighting. A report said the police operatives arrived at the residence of one Alberto Gopez in Barangay Duat, Bacolor town last March 19 and accosted 10 men inside for illegal cockfighting, divesting them of their money and other valuables. Gopez and his group reportedly pleaded to the operatives not to pursue the formal complaint against them. However, the operatives released them and left the place without returning the bet money, Baccay said.
