An FIR has been lodged against eight Twitter handles for allegedly propagating fake and misleading news in connection with the death of two girls in Unnao last week, police said on Monday.
The case was registered at the Sadar Kotwali police station area in Unnao on Sunday. Amongst the Twitter handles is the news portal Mojo Story , which is led by senior journalist Barkha Dutt. After the complaint, Dutt termed the FIR a case of brazen harassment and bullying .

Unnao: An FIR has been lodged against eight Twitter handles for allegedly propagating fake news in connection with the death of two girls here last week, police said on Monday.
The Twitter handles include news portal Mojo Story , led by senior journalist Barkha Dutt who termed the FIR a case of brazen harassment and bullying .
The case was registered at the Sadar Kotwali police station area in Unnao on Sunday against seven more Twitter accounts: Janjagran Live, Aazad Samaj Party spokesperson Suraj Kumar Boudh, Nilim Dutta, Vijay Ambedkar, Abhay Kumar Azad, Rahul Diwakar, Nawab Satpal Tanwar.
The superintendent of police (SP) Anand Kulkarni alleged that the claims made by Raj were untrue and the post was intended to create anger through misleading rumours
The last rites of the two girls were performed in Babuhara village of Unnao district.
UNNAO: The last rites of two teenage girls, found dead in an agriculture field at Babuhara village of Asoha police station area, were performed here on Friday morning amid tight security arrangements. Three girls aged 16, 15 and 14 were found in a field by the villagers on Wednesday night when they did not return after leaving their house to take fodder for cattle.

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday hit out at the Uttar Pradesh government over the issue of women safety, after two teenage girls were found dead in a field in Unnao.
Rahul Gandhi alleged that the Uttar Pradesh government is not only suppressing the Dalit society but is also crushing the honour and human rights of women in the state.
