Nissan to Halt All Assembly in the Philippines The Japanese automaker has confirmed that they will stop production of its Almera sub-compact sedan. This means that if Nissan plans to bring in the next-generation Almera, it will be sourced likely from Thailand where the Navara and Terra are also assembled. The decision was reached following the expiration of the assembly contract between Nissan Philippines, Inc. (NPI) and assembler Univation Motor Philippines, Inc. (UMPI) which is their vehicle assembly partner. An estimated 133 employees will be affected by the plant closure. The Sta. Rosa plant closure is part of Nissan’s plan towards optimized production and efficient business operations in the ASEAN region, as part of the Nissan NEXT transformation plan.

(UMPI), have made the decision to cease production operations for the Nissan Almera in the Santa Rosa plant in the Philippines, effective March 2021,” said the company statement.
