UK HealthCare hosting Be Healthy Bash in Lexington

UK HealthCare is inviting community members to kick off the summer with the ‘Be Healthy Bash.’ The free festival will take place at the Fayette County Extension Office on Harry Sikes Way in Lexington from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., June 8. This event will focus on your entire well-being with information and activities around nutrition, fitness and emotional wellness.

UK HealthCare’s Walk with a Doc series has been made readily available to all employees, students and community members. The walking program is led by UK health experts and is for everyone interested in taking steps toward a healthier lifestyle.

QPR program equips people to help when confronted by mental health emergencies

What do you do when you witness someone struggling with suicidal thoughts or when someone tells you they intend to harm themselves? The University of Kentucky offers an online program called QPR to equip you with the right answers and actions. Think of it as a CPR program for mental health crises. Dr. Greg talks with Marc Woods, Chief Nursing Officer for Behavioral Medicine at UK HealthCare and Eastern State Hospital about QPR, which stands for Question, Persuade and Refer.

Suicide prevention training available to employees

UK Human Resources, in collaboration with UK HealthCare's Healthy Kentucky Initiative, is offering a free online training to help employees who know someone affected by mental illness become a mental health champion and learn how to save a life through a research-backed suicide prevention training program.
