Wolffkran Arabia and Johnson Arabia have supplied cranes for the construction of the University of Birmingham project in Dubai.
The 50,000sqm campus, designed by UK-based Hopkins Architects, will be located within the Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) and will have the capacity to host 2,900 students. The project will be completed by September 2021.
Wolffkran Arabia was the main crane planner and provider for this project with three Wolff 8033.16 cranes on site. Two cranes are erected on 6m x 6m cross frame bases and both have 40.6m hook heights. These are located at either end of the project site with an additional crane, the highest with a 54.2m hook height, is erected on 8m x 8m cross frame. The latter was placed in the centre of the site to assist with all the pick and move operations during construction of the exterior core and shell structure of the university.
