Soviet union again with the soviets occupying the eastern zone of berlin and the three western powers occupying the western zone. This starts the division of germany and berlin. That became concrete with the direction of the berlin wall with the berlin wall. The wall was put up by east germans of stents of late to keep people out. And with the occupation of east germany and east berlin, hundreds of thousands of people in the east had been fleeing to the west. These numbers became larger and larger. It was a terrible drain of intelligence and skills in the east. The east germans called what we called the berlin wall the antifascist fork. It was to keep out the fascist, to keep out the west. We have, for those of you who have been with us for this spring semester, we have had a number of really great presentations and special events. This one is particularly special to me, the launch of greg brezinskis winning the third world sinoamerican rivalry during the cold war. Greg, as many of you know, is associate professor of history and National Affairs at George Washington university, really one of this countrys leading historical voices and historians of asia. He is author of nation building in south korea koreanamericans in the making of a democracy. Of course now, winning the third world. He is a friend and part of the Wilson Center family, is even more special. He was with us 2010, 2011 at the as the most Senior Fellowship you can get from the Wilson Center. He is a Senior Adviser to two of the programs at the center. His current work, he is on to his next project, of course, focus
