He previously served as the first president of the association for the preservation of civil war sites from 1990 to 1994, an early version of what today we know as the American Battlefield trust. The most recent book is last rites the evolution of the american funeral and todd will be speaking to us today about how Abraham Lincoln was at the center of the transformation of american funeral practices both during his time in the white house and also through his tragic death.
