We are a community that lost our manufacturing backbone. We were the home of one of the largest textile companies in the world and we watched some bad policy out of washington d. C. Force those jobs overseas so we lived for a decade and a half in a tough economy. We saw generation fall into poverty for the first time in the communitys history and was very refreshing to see our community pull together in an effort to bring advanced manufacturing back in the automotive manufacturing. We landed the kia plants. Its been a remarkable turnaround. Weve learned jobs are so important. You were a dentist for 20 years before you entered politics.
