Im pleased to the subcommittee hearing to the budget request. We have worked well together in his tenure for nasas marshall license center. Mr. Lightfoot thank you for serving as nasas leader during this time of change and i appreciate you joining us here today. The administration has proposed a fiscal year 2018 budget of 19. 1 billion for nasa which is a reduction of 2. 9 from the current year level. While this overall cut is less than many other agencies that have experienced the president s budget request reflects a significant reduction of 561 million dollars. This budget request attempts to navigate a challenging fiscal environment that would disrupt Ongoing Missions and delay future explorations for years to come. Welcome to bbc news. 13 people have been killed in barcelona and more than 100 injured after a van was driven into the crowds at one of the citys most popular tourist sites. So called Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack. Thousands of people, holidaymakers and locals, were on the packed street in barcelona when the attack happened late this afternoon. The white van was driven at speed along the Famous Pedestrianised market area called las ramblas. The driver turned into the crowds at this point here and drove the rented van for around half a mile through them, killing and wounding dozens of people as he went. 0ur correspondent gavin lee reports from barcelona.
