Published July 12, 2021 Over the weekend, the Australian government released a new COVID-19 vaccination ad which was disturbing to say the least. It featured a young woman struggling to breathe on a ventilator, and felt more like an extreme anti-smoking commercial than a wholesome and uplifting campaign to vaccinate the nation. The government really can and should do better. On that note, let’s have a looksy at how other countries have been encouraging people to get vaccinated through TV ads. A lot of these ads are hopeful for a post-lockdown future. Most of them feature people from broad demographics and different lifestyles. A lot of them also feature uplifting music and cool choreography. Some of them even include important facts about how safe the vaccines are. ....

Phua Chu Kang, the Singaporean contractor with his trademark yellow boots, perm and mole, has returned in a quirky new music video with his wife Rosie to urge Singaporeans to get vaccinated. Actor Gurmit Singh reprises his role from the long-running 1997-2007 MediaCorp TV show as Phua Chu Kang while Rosie is, as ever, played by Irene Ang. In the two-minute video, the duo dance and rap to tunes that call on Singaporeans to get inoculated in the country s immunisation programme. The video was shared by the official Singaporean government Twitter account on Tuesday (May 4), with the accompanying captions Don t play play!
