Auction Of Unclaimed Vehicles: Railway authorities in Ernakulam have approached the motor vehicle department (MVD) offices in the district seeking their opinion on auctioning the unclaimed vehicles. Railways has written to the RTO asking if there is any objection in auctioning the unclaimed vehicles. Many vehicles have been remaining unclaimed for years and are occupying precious space. Around a dozen unclaimed bikes are remaining parked in three railway stations in the district for years. If owners fail to collect goods reaching the destination station within the specified time, they will be charged Rs 10 for each extra hour.
