Deliver on Promise to Bring Solution for Protracted Naga Political Issue— ACAUT Nagaland

Today, the 31st of October 2022 commemorates  the 10th people’s public rally organised by  Against Corruption And  Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) against the yoke and shackles of unabated taxation and corruption inspite of  the stiff opposition from those who live by the diktat that  power flows from the barrel of the gun. The formation and subsequent report of the High Powered Committee against the whole gamut of unabated taxation was the result of the public resolution on this day and still has not yet seen the light of the day. The public  resolution of  “One Government One Tax” elicited massive people response as it was the logical antidote against unabated taxation after the declaration of “One Naga National Government” by the Forum for Naga  Reconciliation (FNR) in the Naga Concordant of 2011.  On the other hand the Government of India(GOI) continues to recognise and extend ceasefires with various Naga Politica ....

ACAUT demands appointment of Nagaland Lokayukta

Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): The Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) has urged the two search committee members — State Chief Secretary and Advocate General of Nagaland – and the government to appoint a Lokayukta at the earliest and implement the Lokayukta Act in letter  and spirit. In a press release, the ACAUT recalled how Justice Uma Nath Singh was sworn in as the first Lokayukta of Nagaland in 2019 after it, along with other CSOs, organised agitations for appointment of Lokayukta, before the Supreme Court asked him to step down prematurely in 2020. It said the UDA Government then appointed the Upa-Lokayukta to take charge of the Lokayukta which expired on August 5 2021 as per the “rules”, following which the Lokayukta (Amendment No.2) Bill, 2021 was passed, “making it official to keep the head of the anti-corruption Ombudsman vacant for a year”. “Since February 5, 2022 a year has lapsed and the Lokayukta continues to be headless for the second year to the ....

ACAUT Nagaland extends support to NNQF; questions MLA, DoSE

Dimapur, Sep. 28 (EMN): The Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland has extended support to the Nagaland NET Qualified Forum (NNQF) in its demand to revoke the move to regularise 154 contractual assistant professors. The ACAUT, in a press release, stated that “any appointment to public post under the Government of Nagaland must be based on public advertisement, so that equal opportunities are open to all qualified aspirants”. It stated that the court had passed an interim order “preventing regularisation of contract or ad-hoc after three years of service” after it filed public interest litigation (PIL) against the menace of backdoor appointments in 2015, followed by a writ petition in 2017. It added that the court had dismissed NNQF’s writ petition filed in 2019 after the State respondents challenged the earlier judgement, “on the grounds of maintainability and locus standi” giving the liberty to the petitioners to file a case again through an appropriat ....

ACAUT condemns service extension of Nagaland DGP, urges top cop to retire gracefully

Dimapur, Sep. 16 (EMN): The Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) has condemned the service extension of the incumbent Director General of Police (DGP) of Nagaland, T John Longkumer and accused the state government of flouting the UPSC service guidelines. In a press release, the ACAUT asked why the state government had to extend the tenure of the DGP, a Chhattisgarh cadre, when the UPSC had clearly mentioned in its letter dated April 1, 2022, to the government that ‘only officers of  Nagaland cadre are required to be included in the eligibility list’ for the post. While stating that it is not aware if the state government had responded to the letter of the UPSC, it said the government had written to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) seeking extension of the police officer’s tenure for another six months, which the latter had “conveyed the approval of Appointments Committee of the cabinet extension of service as well as extension of inter-cadre deputation ....
