Non utilisation of $1b loan irks parliamentary panel The committee urges FBR to provide concessions to industries to be set up at CPEC’s SEZs ISLAMABAD: A parliamentary panel has expressed extreme displeasure over delay in the process of completion of socio-economic projects under a $1 billion Chinese grant. It has also asked the taxman and other stakeholders to provide concessions to industries to be set up at the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) to be built along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The Parliamentary Committee on CPEC held its 36th in-camera meeting at the Parliament House on Wednesday. Presided over by MNA Sher Ali Arbab, the meeting expressed dissatisfaction over dilly-dallying in the process of completion of socio-economic projects under Chinese grant of $1 billion.

  ISLAMABAD, Feb. 18 (Gwadar Pro) - Pakistan’s Parliamentary Committee on CPEC was on Wednesday afternoon told that Gwadar Fencing Project under the CPEC was aimed at making Gwadar city a “weapon free zone.”   The 32nd in-camera meeting of the CPEC Parliamentary Committee was held at the Parliament House under the Chairmanship of Sher Ali Arbab, said an official statement.   Secretary, Ministry of Defence briefed the Committee on Gwadar Fencing Project. He apprised that the project was primarily aimed at making Gwadar city a “weapon free zone” and to create an enabling environment for trade and business. The project started on December 4, 2020.

  Islamabad, February 12: Pakistan’s Parliamentary Committee on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) on Thursday evening directed the concerned ministries to prepare the list of ‘deliverable’ projects for the upcoming 10th Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) with Iron Brother China.   The 31st meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on CPEC was held here at the Parliament House, Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Sher Ali Arbab.   “The Committee thoroughly examined the agreed projects in Joint Working Groups thereby to be presented as deliverables in the forthcoming 10th Joint Coordination Committee between China and Pakistan and recommended that the remaining deliverables by all concerned Ministries/Divisions should be forwarded to the Committee at the earliest so that tangible progress of all the projects pertaining to every segment of CPEC could be evaluated and accelerated,” said an official statement issued after the in-camera meeting.
