Amba protests in support of agitators held for 'pelting stones' at policemen | Ranchi News

HAZARIBAG: Barkagaon MLA Amba Prasad on Sunday came out in support of 19 villagers from Uruv under Pakri Barwadih coal mining project of NTPC who were arrested on Saturday and brought to Hazaribag court of the chief judicial magistrate. The court, however, refused to grant them bail and sent them to jail. She also briefly protested at the bus in which the villagers were brought to the court.
Calling the arrest illegal, Amba said that villagers were peacefully agitating at Triveni Sainik Company, the main outsourcing company hired by the NTPC, for mining work.
She said, “Workers were agitating since Saturday morning demanding fulfilment of their various demands, including payment of bonus. These workers had served notice to the company three months ago but finding no alternative they sat on a dharna and prevented other workers of the village from joining duty. They were agitating by following Covid-19 protocols.” ....

RANCHI: Four Congress MLAs, who are known detractors of the state party leadership, rushed to Delhi on Tuesday, three days after the return of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Rameshwar Oraon from the national capital, to lobby for their share in the government or any government-supported boards and corporations.
The four MLAs are the party’s co-working president and Jamtara legislator Irfan Ansari, Mamta Devi (Ramgarh), Rajesh Kachchap (Khijiri) and Umashankar Akela (Barhi). In the run-up to the 2019 assembly polls, Akela, who was then BJP MLA from Barhi, joined Congress to contest from the seat after the saffron camp denied him the ticket. ....

CM seeks oppn support to 'rein in' DVC for 'misadventures' | Ranchi News

Ranchi: Chief minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday sought the support of opposition MLAs in strategizing a stern action against Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) for its “misadventures” in Jharkhand. The state government is at loggerheads with the DVC and the Union power ministry since November over the non-payment of DVC’s dues by the JBVNL. In October, the Union power ministry had asked the RBI to deduct Rs 1,417 crore to pay a part of JBVNL’s dues to the DVC, which amounts over Rs 5,000 crore.
“DVC is a Central PSU, but it operates on our resources. It supplies power only to industrial units and deprives the poor. They do not even dispense its corporate social responsibilities (CSR). The people of Jharkhand are fed up of it,” Soren responded on behalf of his government in Jharkhand Assembly to a call attention motion brought by MLAs Irfan Ansari, Umashankar Akela and Amit Yadav.In the call attention motion, the legislators had alleged that the DVC does not dispense ....
