KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 Lawyers representing Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today described their client a victim of ‘selective prosecution’ and rejected outright the prosecution’s opening statement after Zahid’s Foreign Visa System (VLN) corruption trial kicked off at the High Court earlier today.
In rebutting the prosecution’s opening statement, Zahid’s defence team contended that the criminal charges leveled against the former deputy prime minister was aimed at accomplishing ‘character assassination’.
