The Japanese government is allocating $ 4.5 million to support the conflict-affected population in eastern Ukraine

In 2021, the Japanese government will transfer to Ukraine $ 4.5 million in assistance through four projects to be implemented by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the International Organization for Migration, the United Nations Office for Project Services, and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
These include providing medical humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, helping communities in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts to reduce the impact of COVID-19, delivering humanitarian assistance, and protecting internally displaced persons and people living near the contact line in government-controlled areas of Ukraine, as well as providing immediate help and rehabilitation during emergencies in Ukraine.

Japan to provide Ukraine with $1.82 M medical equipment purchase grant for border guards

Ukraine and Japan signed an intergovernmental agreement on a grant for the purchase of special equipment for the medical facilities of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, including a magnetic resonance imaging machine.
The agreement was signed by Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba and Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Takashi Kurai on January 28, the Foreign Ministry s press service informs.
According to the signed agreement, the grant provided by the Japanese side is JPY 200 million (about USD 1.82 million).
Dmytro Kuleba expressed gratitude to the Japanese side for its consistent support for the implementation of reforms in Ukraine, large-scale infrastructure projects, the countering of Russia’s aggression and combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
