A fire broke out at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, injuring at least 14 priests during the bhasma aarti on Holi. Eyewitnesses mentioned the fire started while gulaal was being thrown. District collector Neeraj Singh confirmed the incident and stated that a magisterial probe is underway, with the injured receiving medical treatment. The injured, including the chief priest of Sanjay Guru, were rushed to a nearby hospital, and no fatalities were reported.
The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a solatium of Rs 1 lakh to each person who suffered injuries in the fire at Mahakal temple in Ujjain on Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the incident and wished for speedy recovery of the injured persons.
