Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi Diocese. UDUPI: Most Rev Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of Udupi diocese exhorted his fellow Christians to celebrate Christmas and New Year in a simple manner. Reminding the community that the dangers of the global pandemic is far from over, the Bishop who said the diocese has decided to go in for a Spartan celebration, added that the resultant savings will be used to extend a helping hand to the needy, destitute and those hit by the pandemic. Delivering this message at a Christmas get-together with the media at the Bishops House here on Saturday, the Bishop said all Christian families in the diocese in the true spirit of this appeal have decided to go in for a simple Christmas celebration. “This year’s Christmas will be observed in a spiritual manner and will be one without fanfare and extravaganza,” the Bishop said adding this message has been conveyed to the laity through the churches. ....
