Sr. Marjory Mwansa, a physiotherapist administrator at St. John Paul II Mission Orthopaedic Hospital in Lusaka, Zambia, said the state-of-the-art medical facility is a beacon of hope for children with disabilities.
The Zambian Network of Youths living with Disabilities (ZNYS) has strongly dispelled assertions that the ministry of education and the Examining Council of Zambia has neglected learners with special education needs sitting for examinations.
This follows allegations by a named federation that the Zambia education sector and the examining body were mishandling students with special needs by not giving them special attention in handling their examination answer scripts.
ZNYS Secretary General Cornelius Chitukwa who is also Luanshya District Education Standards Officer for Special Education said government had in the recent past effected numerous strides to better the handling of examinations for learners with special needs.

Participating in the “Discussion with Villagers” program held today at the Thorawelkanda College playground in the Ravanakanda village in the Imbulpe Divisional Secretariat Division, Balangoda, President Rajapaksa listened to the grievances of the villagers and instructed relevant officials to implement several development projects. This is the third of the Discussion with Villagers program in which the President participated. The first was held in September in Haldummulla in the Badulla District and the second in October in the Wilgamuwa Divisional Secretariat in the Matale District.
