Singing a Millennium song at home and abroad

Last things first. Harry Meyer is happy to claim some responsibility for Jedward - the wise-cracking Eurovision twins. Until Leo Varadkar began attracting attention, they were probably the most famous products of Harry s old school. The retired principal of King s Hospital recalls that the brothers more properly known as John and Edward Grimes arrived on campus just as he was departing. He had the honour of interviewing them and their parents as they signed up to enrol but he then had no further professional dealings with them. A wonderful pair, he chuckles, having encountered them in action at functions such as school prize-givings which he attended after his departure from the headmaster s office in 2003. Among the many hundreds of students who passed through his tutelage, young Varadkar also stands out.

Sheridan provides drop sites for Christmas tree disposal – Sheridan Media

(Courtesy photo) When Christmas is over and it’s time to dispose of the tree, the city of Sheridan provides several locations where that can be done. Saliena Parker, who’s the city recycling and solid waste coordinator, explained how the city puts the trees to use. She said the city won’t pick up any of the trees, but drop sites are located all around the city. She said the composting is done at the municipal landfill, and the compost material is available for purchase year-round. Natural trees can be taken to the landfill on East Ridge Road at no charge, and trees can be placed in the green waste bins at any of the city’s other drop sites.

Christmas Display Lights Up Ucross – Sheridan Media

The Christmas lights are on again in The Park at Ucross, a part of the Ucross Foundation.  Anyone driving down Highway 14 E between Sheridan and Ucross are treated to an impressive display. Thousands of Christmas lights adorn the mostly evergreen trees in The Park at Ucross, which will be lit daily from dusk to dawn from November 27 through January 11.  The Ucross Chapel will also be open daily throughout the holiday season, although due to health precautions, a public event will not be held this year.  However, a special Ucross Christmas video, which will include a reading by Craig Johnson, local author and creator of the Longmire series of books will be available at ucross.org.
